EMMA CLAYTON

Agent: Sophie Hicks

Emma was born in the UK and first trained as field archaeologist. She then became a freelance illustrator, before returning to education to study screen and film writing. She began writing when she was 26, and her first novel The Roar was published by Chicken House.

The novel’s sequel, The Whisper, followed four years later, and both books were also released in the US. Emma has received acclaim for her work in the form of multiple awards including the Yorkshire Coast Book Award.

The Roar was nominated for the Carnegie Medal in 2009, and the following year saw Emma’s name on the USBBY Outstanding International Books Honour List, and the Texas Library Association's Lone Star Reading List.
