Omar Al-Khayatt is a Neurologist working in Cambridge who wants to add his name to the list of physician novelists. He was born in Iraq and moved to England before a lot of the trouble started.

He holds no humanities degree and spoke in a made up language until the age of 5, but has not let that hold back his writing aspirations. He has written mainly short stories, getting shortlisted in Writers' Forum Magazine, winning Editor's Choice on and recently being published as a winner in the Fish Short Story Prize 2015.

Under the tutelage of Maggie Gee, OBE, he graduated from Faber Academy in 2015 and is currently writing his first novel about a man condemned to hang in Iraq which will be completed in 2017.
