Mary Arrigan grew up in the small Irish town of Newbridge in County Kildare, where the highlight of the week was her visit to the library.

Mary Arrigan won the White Raven International Award for The Dweller Beneath, and the Bistro Merit Award for Siúlóid Bhreá, whilst her book The Rabbit Girl was selected by the Committee of The United States Board on Books for Young People as one of the forty outstanding international books 2012 worldwide. The popularity of her Milo adventure series led to Mary being selected to write a shorter Milo adventure as the 2014 Irish contribution to World Book Day.

As well as being a full-time writer, Mary does school visits through the Writers in Schools scheme. Her other awards include the Sunday Times Crime-Writers Association Award, and The Hennessy Award.
